Etymology of Arabic words: the word دلفين
(delphin) which means of course dolphin, is pronounced almost identically as the ancient greek word δελφίνι (delphini) from which is derived. In Greek mythology a dolphin saved the life of Arion (Αρίων) who was a musician (kitharodos) and whose music charmed the dolphins.
