الفاصوليا beans

Etymology of Arabic words: the word الفاصوليا
(al-fasoulia) means beans ,mainly dry beans , and it is a dish wellknown to all mediterranian countries. The ancient greek word φάσηλος (fasilos) seems to be the root of the latin word phaselus or phaseolus and the above arabic word. Since the Middle Ages we use in greek the word φασόλια/φασούλια (fasolia/fasoulia). In Turkish they use the word fasulye.
