علم الطوبوغرافيا Topography

Etymology of Arabic words: the word علم الطوبوغرافيا
=(alima altopografia) which means (the science of) Topography is apparently a loan word from Greek language. The greek word Τοπογραφία (topografia) is composed from the word τόπος (topos) which means place/ site and the word γράφω (grafo) which means write/describe i.e. write down/describe a site on a map. In the Antiquity, according to Wikipedia ,”the Greek geographer, philosopher and historian Στράβων (Stravon) wrote the famous Γεωγραφικά ( Geographica ) in which presented a descriptive history of people and places from different regions of the world known to his era”. In Turkish they use the term topografya.
