Etymology of
arabic words: the word البلسم
(balsam)
means balsam
and seems to be of greek origin. (According to Wikipedia “Balsam
is a term used for various pleasantly scented plant
products, and the plants which produce them” ). The greek word is
βάλσαμο (valsamo) and comes from the antiquity. It is
probable that at that time,it was a loan word from simitic origin.
