أفندي sir ,lord

Etymology of Arabic words: the word أفندي
=(afenti) which means sir ,lord, is of Greek origin. The greek word αυθέντης (afthentis) comes from the antiquity and had the meaning of a person who had power on others. In modern greek we use the word αφέντης (afentis) with the same meaning. In Turkish they use the word efenti.
