شمندورة mooring buoy

-->
Etymology of Arabic words: the word رباط شمندورة /شمندورة
means mooring buoy (a techical term, a floating object where a vessel can be moored).The word شمندورة
is probable a loan word from the greek language and especially from the word σημαντήρ/ας which was formed from the verb σημαίνω meaning to denote /to mean and the suffix -τηριον.In modern greek we use the word τσαμαδούρα which apparently is a counter loan. In Turkish is şamandıra.
