إنتاركتيكا قارة Antarctica

-->
Etymology of Arabic words: the word انتاركتيكا
means antarctic/Antarctica and derives from the greek word Ανταρκτική which derives from the word/prefix αντι- meaning opposite and the word αρκτικός/ή meaning arctic which originally had the meaning “of the north”as they reffered to the constellation of Ursus Mayor which in Greek is Μεγαλη Αρκτος.In this sense Ανταρκτική had the meaning of “opposite the north”.In Turkish is Antarktika.
P.S. The full name of the (continent) Antarctica in Arabic is إنتاركتيكا قارة.

P.S.NO2   Belief in the existence of a Terra Australis – a vast continent in the far south of the globe to "balance" the northern lands of Europe, Asia and North Africa – has existed since the times of Ptolemy (1st century AD), who suggested the idea to preserve the symmetry of all known landmasses in the world.(WIKIPEDIA)

 Claudius Ptolemy (play /ˈtɒləmi/; Greek: Κλαύδιος Πτολεμαῖος, Klaudios Ptolemaios; Latin: Claudius Ptolemaeus; c. AD 90 – c. AD 168) was a Greek-Roman citizen of Egypt who wrote in Greek.[1] He was a mathematician, astronomer, geographer, astrologer, and poet of a single epigram in the Greek Anthology.[
