Etymology of arabic words: the word الدبلومة
(al-dibloma) means of course Diploma and has its roots in the greek language. The greek word δίπλωμα (thiploma) has the same meaning and derives from the verb διπλώ/διπλώνω which means to fold and hence the initial meaning of the greek word δίπλωμα was folded paper. In Turkish they use the word diploma.
