وذمة oedema

Etymology of arabic words =وذمة
=(ouadima/ouathima ) means oedema i.e. swelling/swollen and  is probably of Greek origin. The greek word οίδημα (idima) comes from the antiquity and the name of the heroe of Sofocles' tragedy Oedipous had (originally) the meaning of somebody with swollen foot as it is composed from the words edema+ foot.
In Turkish they use the word ödem probably from the same origin.
