Etymology
of arabic words: the word أرشيف
(arsif)
means Archive/s
and has its roots in the Greek language. The Greek word is αρχείο/α
(arhio/a) and has the same meaning. It derives from the antiquity and
its original meaning was the dwelling of the Αρχων
(Arhon=Ruler/Magistrate)
in which important official state documents were filed. In Turkish
they use the word arşiv/ler.
