Etymology of Arabic words: the word إقليم
=(iklim) means region (question :does it mean also climate?????) and derives from the greek word κλίμα (klima) which in modern Greek means climate but at the time of the greek astronomer Πτολεμαίος (Ptolemeos)(second century A.D.) and according to his works had the meaning of region, geographical position,slope of the Earth . The greek word κλίμα (klima) derives from the verb κλίνω (klino) which means to incline, to slope. In Turkish they use the word iklim with the meaning of climate.
