Etymology of Arabic words: the word خريطة
=(harita) which means map is probably a loan word from the Greek language in which the word χάρτης (hartis) has the same meaning. The greek word is in use since the antiquity and initially meant papyrus or a roll made thereof. In Turkish they use the word harita.
