Greek astronomy is astronomy written in the Greek language in classical antiquity. Greek astronomy is understood to include the ancient Greek, Hellenistic, Greco-Roman, and Late Antiquity eras. It is not limited geographically to Greece or to ethnic Greeks, as the Greek language had become the language of scholarship throughout the Hellenistic world following the conquests of Alexander. This phase of Greek astronomy is also known as Hellenistic astronomy, while the pre-Hellenistic phase is known as Classical Greek astronomy. During the Hellenistic and Roman periods, much of the Greek and non-Greek astronomers working in the Greek tradition studied at the Musaeum and the Library of Alexandria in Ptolemaic Egypt.
The development of astronomy by the Greek and Hellenistic astronomers is considered by historians to be a major phase in the history of astronomy. Greek astronomy is characterized from the start by seeking a rational, physical explanation for celestial phenomena.[1] Most of the constellations of the northern hemisphere derive from Greek astronomy,[2] as are the names of many stars and planets. It was influenced by Babylonian and, to a lesser extent, Egyptian astronomy; in turn, it influenced Indian, Arabic-Islamic and Western European astronomy.

ASTRONOMY Cadmus=كادموس
WIKIPEDIA: Cadmus or Kadmos (Ancient
Greek: Κάδμος), in Greek
mythology was a Phoenician prince,[1]
the son of king Agenor
and queen Telephassa
of Tyre and
the brother of Phoenix,
Cilix and Europa.
He was originally sent by his royal parents to seek out and escort
his sister Europa back to Tyre after she was abducted from the shores
of Phoenicia by
Zeus.[2]
Cadmus founded the Greek city of Thebes,
the acropolis of
which was originally named Cadmeia
in his honor.
The asteroid 7092 Cadmus
(7092 Cadmus), discovered in 1992, is named after the mythical
founder of Thebes.

Foreign Languages and Etymology are my hobbies.
For
many years I searched for the Etymology of Greek words and afterwards
with the Etymology of the words of the foreign languages I was
learning and I kept the notes and the knowledge for myself.
But
when I started learning Arabic I discovered that there were not
Arabic Etymological Dictionaries and so I decided to share with you
any information I collected but only for the Arabic words having
Greek origin.
