means hormone (is a chemical released by a cell or a gland in one part of the body) a medical term coined in 1905 on the basis of the greek word ορμή (ormi) meaning impetus from the verb ορμώ (ormo) meaning to impel, to urge on. In the antiquity used, a similar term , Hippocrates to denote a vital principle. İn Turkish is hormon.
